Becoming an entrepreneur is definitely not an easy task. In fact, is very difficult. So why do it? The goal is to become your own boss, make money, have flexibility and more. However, this may come with many challenges, specially while you hold a 9 to 5. Many entrepreneurs like myself choose to keep their 9 to 5 for different reasons; mines happens to be the fact that I am still working on getting my business off the ground and this requires me to use my earnings to invest in my business. If I had the choice, I would be a full time entrepreneur and focus in my business all the way, but until I can generate enough revenue to support my lifestyle, I will need to keep my 9 to 5.
Time Management, Stress, and Finding Balance
So how do you manage working a full-time job and having your own business? Easy. All you have to do is stay focused and prioritize your time wisely. Is it gonna be easy ALL the time? of course not, but you got this! Let me help you with some tips that will help you manage both effectively.
1. Sleeping is no longer an option and this includes weekends. Waking up super early to get ready, drive to work and get there at least 20 mins before my shift to check my emails, notifications and all that good stuff; get home and work on my business, then go to sleep and do it all over again for a week. On weekends, I create content for the week and get everything done as far as meetings, run errands etc. The majority of weekends can be used as full-time days for your business, take advantage of those days.
2. Instead of going to Chipotle during lunch with your friends, use that time to write a blog post, tweet some good info, update your business page, create some content, or write emails. Whatever it is that you have to do, DO IT. Eat while you work, it might be a lot at the beginning but you will find your motion eventually. Don't waste no time.
3. Remember that you have to find balance. Don't over work yourself, if you feel tired, stressed or overwhelmed take some time off and go for a walk or do anything that makes you feel better. Your sanity is very important in order for you to be able to stay motivated and encouraged.
4.Lastly, TRY TO GET SOME SLEEP. I know I'm guilty of not getting enough sleep and that's why I'm usually always tired but sleep is very important. Remember that you need 6-8 hrs of sleep. I try to be in bed by 11:30p.m.
To finish things up, write down your goals and ideas to make everything way much easier to you. Planning is essential when you have a business and it is very important that you follow your plan. Find balance and make time for yourself as well! It's so important.
I'm sure that you want to be a full-time entrepreneur but don't feel bad for having a 9 to 5. Do what works for you always. xoxo!!
